I recently bought a solid state flash drive that I used as a portable storage solution (~200gb of ebooks, portable apps, videos, doc).
Because of my use case, the device was under daily use, constantly reading/writing, and died within 5 months.
I then bought an external SSD for similar use, and after copy/pasting a large batch of small sized files, it failed to mount momentarily (which was a sign of impending death on my previous device).
Question is, am I using the SSD inappropriately? Is there a way to see the health of the SSD and could I wipe the device and turn it into a bootable linux device to extend the its life?
