Do they modify graphics cards to fit into laptops or are there different sizes that fit into laptops themself? gaming computer builder

My friend says that his gaming laptop sports a full sized gtx 1060. But if you have ever seen a graphics card you would know that there is no way a full sized GPU could fit into such a small place. So what's the deal with laptop GPU's?
