I encrypted some files in Windows 10, I didn't really understand what I was doing. I didn't back up an encryption key. A couple weeks later, my computer crashed. It would not boot. No data was lost, but I ended replacing my motherboard and SSD. I installed Windows 10 on the new SSD and it's running, but I cannot access those encrypted files, which you probably obviously saw coming, I did not. I was shocked that the files would not open nor could I simply right click on them and go to properties and click "decrypt."
The old SSD appears to still be ok, however it will not boot Windows 10, but all the data is still on the drive (I just checked). Can I recover my encryption key since I still have that user profile in which the encryption was created? If so what would be a good way to go about doing that? I can access the drive through a sata to USB connection.
