How important is a good PSU? gaming computer builder

I've been told having a good PSU is important for a few reasons, it will last longer, if you get a cheap one it could not work or fry other parts, and that it will use less power and save on your energy bill. I'm doing abut of a budget build right now and have all my parts picked out. I'm getting a GTX 1070 and the minimum PSU 500w, I decided to go with the EVGA 600W. Is that an ok choice or should I try an save some more money to get like a bronze pow r supply or maybe a 750?
