I was using Win32DiskImager to flash an image to an SD card, and I screwed up big-time: I accidentally selected my 2TB WD Elements 10B8 USB 3.0 external hard drive. After half a second I realized my mistake and quickly unplugged the drive before the progress bar moved, so I don't think that any files were destroyed, but the file system was corrupted. Now Windows recognizes the drive, but when I click on it to view its contents Windows tells me to format it. This is the same with data recovery tools.
(FYI: The drive was formatted as NTFS. I was using the "2016-09-23-raspbian-jessie-lite" image. I am running Windows 7 Professional.)
My question is, is there a way to restore the file system without any data loss (preferably with free software)? This drive contains all my personal files and backups of other computers, so I need to get the original contents of the drive back, and quickly!
