My computer can be sitting there, unconnected to the internet, as many background processes terminated as possible, playing a video on VLC nice and smoothly, then suddenly starts "lagging" even though no new process is started or anything. Why does this suddenly happen? gaming computer builder

I mean.. I'm not running anything or making any process computer more things. It's not running through the internet or through a router. So what exactly causes it to slow down all of a sudden?
