Norton Antivirus Is Still Active, Fully Functional, And Even Updates, Well After The Subscription Expires? gaming computer builder

So a buddy of mine has Norton installed, and the 60-day free trial expired a week ago. Every day he get's a pop up saying to renew it, but the program stays active, continues to update, and does everything it could do while he was subscribed.

Did the program glitch or something and now he has free software from Norton? Although his little bitch ass will end up paying for it anyway because "muh conscious bro".
