My computer is dying but I can't locate the problem. It's either the gpu or psu. How can I tell which is the problem? (computer screen freezes with screeching sound) gaming computer builder

Whenever I go play youtube videos on chrome or play a game, I cannot last for more than 5 minutes without the whole computer freezing with pixelated artifact looking squiggly lines all over the computer and it makes the screechiest sound.

Now artifacts usually almost always indicate its the gpu right? But I've only have my gpu for about a year now. Its a R9 270 amd graphics card.

My power supply is 500w I believe.

I dont want to keep buying each component but to locate the exact problem. If it is the gpu, would it be okay to buy a used cheap gpu and test it out and see if it works? Or must I buy a brand new one?
