I exposed my hard drive platter. What's the chance it's repairable? gaming computer builder

My external hard drive was dropped and wasn't working. I took it apart and saw that the platter was intact and still moved, but the heads do not touch it to read and make a beeping sound each they try to go towards the platter.

So... I'm wondering what the likelihood is that it's damaged beyond repair because of the dust it was exposed to. And is it still worth sending it to a specialist and forking out $500+?
