How to learn what specs are good, when they are important, etc. gaming computer builder

Does anyone have advice on how to learn about different computer specs and what they mean, why they're important? Especially for gaming, I'll see people ask questions about things like their RAM, or graphics card, and people will answer with what's good or not good. Is there like a Youtube video or channel, is it from experience? I'm about to go start majoring in IS at university so I was just wanting to learn a little
