Are AUX microphones usually quiet on Windows? gaming computer builder

I just finished installing my audio drivers on my new PC, and after a huge hassle with sound issues and such, I got it all sorted out... or so I thought. My microphone, when set to 100% is at a moderate level. Should that be the case? Is it typical for a microphone to be set at 100 and be quiet? This wasn't happening on my old computer. Oh and please don't suggest a Db boost, that broke my old microphone somehow.

CPU: i7 7700k

GPU: EVGA 1060 6gb SSC

RAM: G.Skill 2800 8gb

PSU: EVGA 500watt

Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z270-A
