PSU died after connecting cpu 4pin 12v the wrong way.... gaming computer builder

Hey folks, So I was a complete idiot and did something silly in a hurry. I connected one of the cpu cables from the psu on the 4pin atx connector on the mobo the wrong way (turned 90 degrees counterclockwise). As I noticed afterwards, all the pins are unfortunately rounded and they fit, there was no resistance so I hadnt noticed it before turning the pc on. The cable started melting immediately, the psu is now dead (i did the paperclip test) and the atx connector is partially melted too (not too hard though, i can still fit the connector in just fine). So I'm wondering, what else could have possibly died? Everything on the mobo and the parts look okay, i guess. Is it "safe" to just try and replace the psu and see if it will work? Thanks
