I'm probably gonna sound very stupid! but i have a question. gaming computer builder

Hey, i really like computers but don't completely understand them yet so this might be a strange question.

but today i was searching for a file on my pc and it took like 4 minutes to find it (i have a simple 8gb ram laptop) and 5 minutes later i was searching for something in massive e-book and it found the sentence i was looking for almost instantly.

So theoretically if your PC would index any file/location you could be searching for into a txt file and then the computer would search the txt file and find the file name with location.
