School computer?? gaming computer builder

So I'm going into my junior year of high school and I would like a good laptop. I will probably use it mainly for typing up essays and doing research and what not. I was looking at chrome books--- not really looking to spend a ton of money (actually looking to spend minimal money, as I am in high school and have a low paying job. ) any suggestions would be much appreciated!
