When a files is replaced on a flash drive in Windows 8.1 where is it deleted? gaming computer builder

I had files on my windows 8.1 operating system and I moved them to a usb flash drive. Since some of the files were the same I clicked the (replace files in destination) option. I'm just wondering where those files (the ones on the flash drive that were replaced) went to. I couldn't find them in the recycle bin, so I'm wondering were they deleted on the flash drive or moved to the windows hard drive and deleted.

They were somewhat personal sensitive files so I want to be sure they were deleted on the usb flash drive and not on the windows hard drive (as simple software could easily undelete it).

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I'm almost certain that the files were replaced (ie. Deleted) on the usb flash drive, but nothing like making sure.
