Games gaming computer builder

I've got new PC & I've just decided I want to play some games on it. I have a low end graphics card (Geforce GT710 2GB) and am wondering if this is the sole reason my games are choppy?

I struggle to even get 30 FPS on settings lower than 1080p (my monitor isnt full HD)

Im just wondering what size graphics card you'd need for full HD gaming at a minimum of 60FPS? (I have a HD ultrawide monitor coming this week) Would an 8GB one do it?
