Does 6+2 Pin PSU work on a 8 pin GPU ? gaming computer builder

Hello i am very new to PC building and i just wanted to make sure my current power supply Coolermaster g450M http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gaming-gm-series/g450m/ is going to work with a 1060 6gb. So the PSU says it has 2x 6+2 Pin connectors, does that mean it can be used for either 6 or 8 Pin GPU`s by connecting and disconnecting the extra two Pins ?
