Recovering files from reformatted external hard disk. gaming computer builder

Hello. I need some help on recovering the files from a hard disk that was formatted. I have tried various freeware but all of them require me to buy a subscription or the program itself. Any help? The files in there in the scans but I just can't recover it. Help?
