Can I use an i7-7700k with my motherboard gaming computer builder

Hello, i wanted to upgrade my current processor (i5-4460) to a i7-7700k. I have a Z97 GUARD-PRO (MS-7923) motherboard which i think has a LGA 1150 socket, but i think the 7700k uses a 1151 socke, so does that mean i cant use it with my current motheboard? If so would it be worth upgrading my motherboard as well or would it be fine to just get a different processor rather than the 7700k that works with my current motherboard
