Strange XMP issue gaming computer builder

Hello,

This is a strange issue that's left my head scratching. I have a 6700K (at stock, so 4.0/4.2 turbo), Asus Z170-A, and 16G of Gskill TridentZ DDR4-3200 ram.

When I got this board, I've always had strange issues with the system randomly not passing POST when I set XMP on with the older 2202 bios. It would just show a black screen after power on, until I switched the power off and back on again, then it would work. I assumed it was a BIOS issue since I had no corruption issues and memory tests showed no problems. The system ran fine if it could get into windows, and that the issue would eventually get around to being fixed.

A few days ago, I updated to 3301 to hopefully try to rectify it (and be able to shut my system down for the night again without worrying about getting it started again). However, my system will no longer POST any more with the memory speed at 3200mhz. It actually did get past it once and ran without issues (even passing memory diagnostics) until I went to shut it down for the night. I have been unable to get it to work at that speed again since.

However, it works on MemOK mode (resets stock memory settings so @ 2133 mhz). I can set XMP on and force it to run at 3000mhz and it boots without issue. But I would like it to be running at the speed that I paid for.

BIOS is still on the latest version (3301) and has been cleared completely and re-set with no luck. Memtest and Windows memory diagnostics report no errors. I cannot roll back to 2202 anymore since Asus for some reason disabled that ability. The farthest back I can go is 3007 which offers no help.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could check or try? Google is of little help :(

Thank you
