Operating system gaming computer builder

Hey guys whats the best operating system i can get for free? I'd love win7+ but after some hours searching i couldnt get it.

I tried ubuntu but when i boot my pc with the usb fdrive that has the iso file, it couldnt recognize it, and i had first boot option usb fdrive. How can i found out if the problem was the iso file or my pc config?
