CD Required but no Disk Drive Help gaming computer builder

Hello I got a new laptop as a gift and I want to install a game, problem is that laptop doesn't have a disc drive. The game is old (Zoo Tycoon 2) and there are no legal digital downloads out there. I know I can buy an external disc drive and use that.. but the game requires a disc in to run. How would I circumvent this problem? Do I use like Alcohol 52% or similar program to create .iso file? Is that possible on a copyrighted game or will there be preventative measures on the disc? Any help would be much appreciated. Also I'm not good with computers so if you can ELI5 that would help lol
