WD Elements External Harddrive compatibility question gaming computer builder

I just bought a WD elements external harddrive. I need to transfer a bunch of soundfiles from a Mac and put them on a PC. On the back it says "Requires reformatting for Mac OS". Will it work or will all the files disapear if I try to put them on a PC?
