I have never really had the opportunity to test this and I'm not sure how stupid of a question it is but when a laptop has a dedicated graphics card does that cut down on it's battery life always? I mean obviously if you're running a game or some sort of graphically intensive program you're going to be sucking down battery but if you're just browsing it doesn't do anything right? I'm assuming it is driver related as to when the GPU is even working but does it always use some level of residual power or when it's not in intensive use it is not consuming anything?
