Need help building a PC gaming computer builder

I'm super new to all of this and everyone says that prebuilt PC suck so im in the 500 dollar range for building a decent gaming PC nothing crazy just tired of using this family computer so i have a couple questions 1. after i build the computer i have all the parts and all that do i need to buy windows or how does that work basically after the putting the computer together part i am completely lost.
