Hello all. I'm setting up a new laptop I ordered which to be honest is way OP for me but I'd been saving for a long time to buy myself a nice laptop so I got er done! It's the Lenovo thinkpad p51 when I get it I'm going to upgrade it with an m.2 256GB ssd bringing my total disc space to 500GB 7200rpm HDD and 256GB m.2 SSD. This is a long term laptop for me and I want to manage storage well. I do research in chemistry and store a lot of data which previously I've been saving to a micro SD card to keep disc space on my laptop. I also use some programs which use a lot of storage and require a lot of power. I'm curious as to how the Reddit computer community thinks I should store my programs for long term computer use? My plan was demanding programs to ssd, simpler programs to HDD and data/ppt/boring easy files to an SD card. What do you guys think? Also what programs should I look at for antivirus?
