I'm not good with computers nor do I know if this is the right subreddit, but are there any consequences to increasing my RAM? gaming computer builder

My RAM is at like 4 GB right now, and I'm trying to run Worlds Adrift, which I'm told requires about 16 GB of ram to run properly. Are there any consequences to increasing my RAM?
