How can I scale my display to fill the monitor? gaming computer builder

I have a Lenovo LI2264d monitor plugged into my mid 2015 13" macbook pro. I've noticed that the display doesn't fill the monitor screen. Is there a way to adjust the display to fill the entire screen or am I stuck with these stupid black bars?
