Did I bust my phone battery? gaming computer builder

I don't know whether this did it, but last night my dad startled me and I dropped my phone (Asus Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL), which is in a silicone and leather case, on the carpet, landing on its corner first. I'm fairly certain it functioned properly after that, and I plugged it in overnight since it had been a couple days.

This morning, however, it was unresponsive. Figuring I had situated something wrong (I can't remember whether the adapter was plugged in), I simply took the case off to make sure the plug sat correctly this time.

An hour later, pressing the power button only caused it to vibrate, which it usually does when it begins booting up or when it shows the battery screen. However, nothing would display. I tried all kinds of things, including taking out the SIM and SD card tray.

It was only when I unplugged it that it would display the image indicating the battery was too low to start. Thinking perhaps I had charged it wrong again, I plugged it in again.

Another hour later, nothing. Literally nothing. No vibrations in response anymore, no display, and when you unplug it the charging indicator light fades out, indicating a lack of the usual system involvement in its shutoff. I tried boot menu button combos, as I had done before, and still nothing.

This is the current state of the phone. I'm not fond of the idea of spending money on repairs since I recently had to drop $125 on a display and the newer models are coming out soon anyway. If there's a cheap and/or easy fix I'd love to hear it.
