I have two monitors connected to my computer, but only one is displaying. gaming computer builder

I have and HDMI connected to a TV and an SVGA connected to a monitor. The TV is working and is currently what I'm using, but everytime I connect my SVGA the monitor says it is going into rest mode instead of displaying anything.
