Can't use keyboard before login screen gaming computer builder

I'm trying to install Windows 10 onto a new SSD I just bought, however I've run into a pretty frustrating problem. I have a copy of Windows 10 on a usb stick, and I have my new SSD connected into my computer, but when I turn on my PC it just gives me a black screen asking me to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media and press a key.

So, I make sure the usb stick is in (check), and... my keyboard isn't working.

I've tried plugging my keyboard into every possible usb slot in my PC, but none of them seem to work.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Also, I unfortunately can't just connect my old HDD and my new SSD at the same time, and install Windows 10 on it that way, as I don't have enough connections for hard drives on my PC.

Thanks.
