Hi everyone. I had a hypothetical scenario I was wondering if you folks could chime in on.
I am writing a piece on an ideal business laptop in the near future. I have some ideas already, which I will share, but I wanted to see if other people agreed with my thinking.
Here's what I believe is needed:
-
Balance between battery and processor power We can't just slap on the highest processor, because it eats up more battery. We want a long battery life. I've seen those Chromebooks boasting up to 13 hours, which is incredible. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4 has seen battery life of sub 4 hours on some reviews! Ideally, the battery should be able to last on an overseas flight with the screen brightness on low
-
USB-C + USB-A I don't think USB-A is going anywhere because I only feel like it's recently become universal with so many things, but the USB-C is the future for computers. A combo of both should be available.
-
HDMI? HDMI is the prevailing video/monitor standard connection?
-
Laptop or 2-in-1? I haven't had much thought on this. All I know is that it feels weird to have a 2 in 1 because the motherboard is in the tablet, which makes it top-heavy when attached to keyboard.
-
16" + I think that 16" is a good laptop screen size, since you'll have ample space for 2 split windows (using the WIN+left and WIN+right) to look at 2 docs at one time.
-
WINDOWS! I just feel that basic operations like opening a spreadsheet and typing an email run much faster on Windows.
Any other thoughts?
