What to do with old hard drive from Dell computer that came from a local University? gaming computer builder

I have an old Dell Optiplex GX1p that apparently came from a local University according to a professional looking sticker along with a bar code on top of the tower which was given to me a couple years ago by my grandmother's friend (don't ask me how he got it, idk). When I took out the hard drive from this machine and put it inside of my spare computer, the Hard drive which is Maxator, sounds like it's working but does not pop up on Windows Explorer.
